What is the Great Ashby Walk-In Market?

In July 2023 we held the first Great Ashby Walking Market, a community event where people pitched stalls on their own front gardens or driveways, all on the same day. It was like a car boot sale, without the early start, the limitations of a car boot or the mud! The Walking Market saw over 25 stalls across Great Ashby selling household items, toys, books and furniture as well as face painting and delicious food to people from Great Ashby and further afield, who walked between the stalls.

Sadly, the weather didn’t fully co-operate two years ago and the heavens opened a few times throughout the day. So, for 2025, we decided to hold a market inside the Great Ashby Community Centre, to ensure that the Great British Summer weather can’t spoil it!

To play on the Walking Market name, we have named our event the Great Ashby Walk-In Market.

The Walk-In Market is a community event where people pitch stalls in the Great Ashby Community Centre to sell items to members of our community and the public. There will be stalls of household items, toys, books, bric-a-brac as well as stalls selling items from local Great Ashby-based businesses.

How do I get involved?

If you have clothes, toys or other items that you want to sell after a clear out, a business you run from home or a charity you would like to raise money for, then this could be the perfect chance for you to do it! 

We will allocate stalls in Hall 1 to tables for residents to sell bric-a-brac, clothes, toys and other household items.  Stalls are £10 each.

Stalls in Hall 2 will be allocated to local businesses.  We will ensure that there are no more than 2 stalls selling similar items, e.g. cakes and bakes, jewellery, handmade cards.
There will be two stalls in Hall 3 for cakes and bakes stalls, in our pop-up charity tearoom where we will be selling hot and cold drinks.
Stalls for businesses are £15 each.

All fees for the stalls will go to Great Ashby Community Centre Management Association, the registered charity that runs our community centre.
